Slack for Android 2.1.1 Release Notes

Feature Additions

A shiny new emoji picker keyboard, for the discerning pickers of emoji (Developed by our amazing summer intern Jonathan! Hi Jonathan!)
Performance improvements in the crucial area of channel syncing
Channel Info and Private Group Info got their hair did
Can now view items that have been pinned in a Channel or Private Group
Bug Fixes

Fixed: A crash that could happen when viewing messages from certain bots. It wasn’t the bots that were bad, though. Don’t blame the bots.
Fixed: Toolbar titles are now regular and no longer bold.
Fixed: Some tiny tweaks to quoted message format, almost too footling to mention.
Fixed: We updated back arrow icon. You won’t believe how many options we went through before we settled on this one.
Fixed: We no longer show send icon for file comments when there is no text, because sending comments is more useful when they contain words.
Fixed: You no longer show up in your list of users to DM because you are you and you can just talk to yourself without Slack’s help.
Fixed: It is no longer possible to send feedback with no text. So if your feedback is that you’re actually, literally speechless, you’ll now have to type that out.
Fixed: We now allow /feedback that starts with a new line (presumably for dramatic effect).
Fixed: We no longer check for Google Play Services when running on a Blackberry.
Fixed: Enter key on hardware keyboard now sends the message rather than carriage return. PAF!
Fixed: Many content descriptions have been added, for better accessibility.
Fixed: Support for 9 digit backup codes for two factor authentication? You got it.
Fixed: When opening a new Direct Message would sometimes hang on the Opening… screen, and never… actually… open. So THAT was annoying.
Fixed: An unfortunate crash related to uploading a photo via the Take Photo option.
Fixed: A confuddling crash related to theming the recent apps card toolbar.
Fixed: A frankly ridiculous crash related to sharing content from other applications. All are better now.
Fixed: Archived channels no longer show up in the autocomplete list
Fixed: You can no longer invite contacts that do not have a valid email. We’d tried our best to let them know you were inviting them every which way we could, but the carrier pigeons ended up being totally unscalable. Sorry about that.
